201-100-002: Portable fire extinguisher for national rallying or pre 31/12/60 historic racingLifeline Zero 2000 is not just an extinguishant but also an integrated system, the compound itself being specially blended to cope with the rigorous demands of motorsport. An integral part of the Zero 2000 system is the specifically designed atomiser nozzle. The device divides the foam into minute particles, smothering the fire with a fine mist that forms an invisible seal over the target area, cooling and thus preventing re-ignition. There are many factors to consider when choosing which fire system to go for:
Class of racing:
MSA regulations require a minimum of a 1.75 litre hand-held unit or 2.25 litre plumbed-in system from the Zero 2000 MSA approved range. Rally cars must carry both a hand-held and a plumbed-in system.
FIA regulations require a minimum of a 2.4 litre hand-held unit or 4.0 litre plumbed-in system (3.12 litre for open top historic cars) from the Zero 2000 FIA approved range. Rally cars must carry both a hand-held and a plumbed-in system (regulations in Ireland require 2 hand-helds plus a plumbed-in system).
Every racer has a budget for their motorsport and Lifeline provide a number of different systems to cater for all budgets.
Safety and insurance:
Class regulations specify a minimum requirement for fire safety equipment. However we recommended considering the best system for your needs that your budget will allow. Regulations only specify a minimum, not a maximum. Not only is the system there to save life/prevent injury, it could be the only thing that prevents total loss of your race car so it should be considered as part of an insurance plan.
